Do you only allow females to join?
No, we welcome absolutely everyone. Our Haven is designed for everyone to be able to walk through our doors and feel safe and welcomed.
What is the approach of Pole Haven? (e.g our motto/view)
The approach at Pole Haven is to ensure everyone has a safe and welcoming space to grow and learn. We prioritise Individual goals and cater to providing a structure that allows you to progress in a safe, but developmental manner. We will not halt progress but work in a collaborative manner to ensure you are provided with the skills and knowledge to flourish.
Do I need to be strong or flexible to start pole dancing?
Absolutely not! Everyone starts from the beginning! Our intro to pole course starts to develop your pole skills without any prior ability required. We meet everyone where they are at in their pole journey and make you feel like you’ve accomplished something every class!
What do I need to wear/bring to a class?
Pole: We recommend a water bottle and towel for use during class. During warm up, we recommend clothing you can move comfortably in as we prep the body for class. Pole classes often require use of skin to ‘stick’ to the pole, so shorts and a singlet are ideal but not compulsory. You may wear leggings if you wish to and we’ll cater tricks for you. Kneepads are highly recommended and heels are optional.
Dance: We recommend a water bottle and towel for use during class. During warm up, we recommend clothing you can move comfortably in as we prep the body for class. We highly recommend knee pads for dance classes. Some dance classes may encourage you to wear heels but this is always optional. Socks are recommended.
Do I need to wear heels?
If you don’t want to wear heels, you don’t have to wear heels! We just want you to feel comfortable. We would highly recommend socks though.
Where do I book my classes?
On the Groovio app! Instructions are on our Bookings Page.
How many people are in each pole/dance class?
Each class may vary and its unknown how many people will attend a class until commencement of Individual classes, however, can be assured each class will have a limit of 3-11 students. If you find small or large classes daunting, you can contact us, and we will do our best to provide alternatives.
Am I expected to progress at the same rate as others?
Absolutely not! We believe every journey is individual and the way in which you progress is unique. We cater to personal development and ensure to communicate with students from the beginning on their goals and expectations, so as a collaborative team, we can best assist you at all stages.
Can you do drop in classes?
Yes! While our timetable is built around an 8-week term, our classes are structured to suit those unable to commit to a permanent membership. We understand that not everyone’s lifestyle may suit an 8-week term, so we ensure to provide flexibility to those wanting to drop into classes.
How do memberships work?
Our memberships are direct debt or pre-paid, look at our membership/pricing page to check out our options to find what best suits you.
What is the difference between static or spinning pole?
Static pole means the pole does not spin, this means tricks that require more dynamic, rotation and momentum movement are perfect for static. Think flares, swings, flips and controlled movement! Static pole is perfect for building strength and learning movement within your body.
Spin pole means the pole moves as you move, this means tricks that require a less momentum and allows you to create the speed in which you spin. Spin pole allows you to create shapes and flow through movement as you focus on grip strength and technique.
