Since 2015, Amelia has been teaching Floor/Chair classes. Her favorite part of teaching is watching her students progress every week and seeing that BIG smile when they achieve something new or step outside their comfort zone.
Amelia recently began competing under the stage name ‘Skipper’ and has loved every part of the process—from selecting music to creating costumes (complete with ALL the rhinestones) and developing a character. She’s also cherished the friendships made along the way. The name ‘Skipper’ was given to her by a friend, who said she reminded her of Barbie’s shorter, more punk rock little sister.
Music is a constant presence in Amelia’s life, with Spotify running 24/7 in her home. She enjoys all kinds of music and believes it truly gives her energy. She also can’t live without her morning coffee in her favorite mug and a daily dose of cheese – her favorite food.
When she’s not teaching or performing, Amelia works as a Senior Project Manager from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A fun fact about her life is that her husband, who was born and raised in the UK, was once shortlisted for the role of Harry Potter in the movies. However, she’s glad he didn’t get the part, as they may have never met.
Amelia and her husband have a four-year-old daughter, Sophie, who LOVES to dance and has just started taking aerial classes. They also have two cats, Jack and Jenkins.
